Summer, made for playing? Yes, but not only! This time last year, we were singing the praises of the opportunities the season offers to shine in the media spotlight. Today, we want to talk about a better use of vacation time. For the Catapulte team, summer is also made for planning the future with our clients.
Planning the future, or, let’s be honest, catching up on a backlog that was deliberately set aside on major projects during the busiest times of the year, whether out of a need to prioritize urgent matters or a desire to preserve the organization’s resources.
The parade of out-of-office messages, from June to August, is the perfect opportunity to entrust collaborators with strategically valuable projects that are best not rushed through, amid a multitude of fast-moving files and the many events on your calendar. The welcome slowness of summer sets the stage for the deep reflection and new directions that these types of projects require.
Among them, consider developing a communications plan, a public or government relations strategy, planning a social acceptability process, building a new website, or creating a new brand identity.
Started at the wrong time, these projects struggle to advance at the expected pace through managers’ packed agendas and employees’ tight deadlines. This is precisely why summer deserves consideration as the right moment to launch such time-intensive initiatives.
Of course, simply stating your intentions is not enough to bring these projects to completion in time for the fall. Arriving well prepared at the turn of summer is essential so that everyone can work independently on their tasks, and so that consistency runs through the entire body of work, from start to finish.
Needs assessment, strategic planning, involvement of your team members: if it can help you truly disconnect during your time off, don’t hesitate to reach out so we can take the lead on projects that, for their part, don’t deserve to suffer from jet lag.
